Frequently asked questions
Which files and batch sizes are supported?
Select up to 30 JPG, PNG or static WebP images, up to 200 MiB total. Each file must be at most 30 MiB, 50 megapixels and 32,767 pixels on either side. You can mix these input formats.
Why is WebP output unavailable in Safari?
Safari can display WebP images but cannot encode WebP with the browser canvas used by this tool. WebP output is disabled when encoding is unsupported. Use a browser with WebP encoding support or choose JPG or PNG.
Will the transparent background be kept?
Yes. Supported WebP output retains transparent areas from the PNG. It does not remove a solid background or create new transparency.
Is this an exact copy of the PNG pixels?
Do not assume it is. This conversion uses a WebP quality setting and can change fine detail. Keep your PNG original and inspect the result, especially text and logos.
What happens to EXIF and photo orientation?
Conversion re-encodes the image and removes EXIF, including any stored camera or location details. Orientation is applied to the pixels. Keep the original if you need its metadata.
Is WebP always smaller and accepted everywhere?
No. File size varies with image content and quality. Check that the destination accepts WebP and compare the result size before replacing your PNG.
