Frequently asked questions
Which files and batch sizes are supported?
Select up to 30 JPG, PNG or static WebP images, up to 200 MiB total. Each file must be at most 30 MiB, 50 megapixels and 32,767 pixels on either side. You can mix these input formats.
Will PNG improve the original JPG quality?
No. Converting cannot restore detail lost when the JPG was created. PNG output may be larger than the JPG, so keep the source and compare the result.
Will my JPG background become transparent?
No. A JPG has no transparent background to preserve. Conversion to PNG keeps the existing background; it does not remove objects or create transparency.
Are JPG and JPEG different inputs?
JPG and JPEG are file extensions for the same image format. Both are accepted, and PNG output uses the .png extension.
What happens to EXIF and photo orientation?
Conversion re-encodes the image and removes EXIF, including any stored camera or location details. Orientation is applied to the pixels. Keep the original if you need its metadata.
Will the image dimensions change?
Conversion normally keeps pixel dimensions. If the output exceeds the browser canvas limit, it is scaled down proportionally and the result is marked.
What is a JPG file?
JPG, also called JPEG, is a common photo format with adjustable compression. It stores an opaque image; changing it to PNG does not recreate missing detail or a transparent background.
When to use PNG output
PNG is widely supported by browsers and image editors and can store transparency. Choose it when your next app requires PNG, while checking whether the larger file still suits your needs.
