Frequently asked questions

Which files can I crop?

Select one JPG, PNG or static WebP image at a time. It must be at most 30 MiB, 50 megapixels and 32,767 pixels on either side; the total input limit is 30 MiB.

Does cropping also resize the image?

Cropping keeps a selected rectangle measured in the original image’s pixels. Use the resize tool afterwards to change its dimensions. Browser canvas limits can require proportional downscaling, which is marked in the result.

What do X and Y mean?

X is the horizontal position and Y is the vertical position of the crop box’s top-left corner, measured in pixels from the image’s top-left corner.

Can I use a keyboard or touch screen?

Yes. Drag the crop box or its handles with a pointer or touch. With the crop control focused, arrow keys move by one pixel; hold Shift to move by ten.

Will the crop retain transparency and EXIF?

PNG and supported WebP output retain transparency. Re-encoding removes EXIF, with orientation applied to the pixels. Output uses the original format when the browser can encode it; unsupported formats are reported.

Can I crop a batch?

This tool crops one image at a time. If you continue from a batch in another tool, only the first result is opened for cropping.
